How do you know when they assign your VIN?

Hello,
I'm hoping that some of the more experienced folks on this forum can give me a rough idea of when you get a VIN assigned to your car during the manufacturing process. I'm schedule to start production in week 19 and I'm still working off of the production number.
Also, how do you find out (short of calling BMW which I've already done once)? Does it show up on the owner's circle site?

Just before the car goes into production, the VIN will show up in the owner's circle under "Manage my BMW" > "Order Tracking".
