Yeah, I'm gonna try and see if I can coax a dealer to get me truffle brown interior for my european delivery 530i. It's certainly a favor they will do for VIP's. Fred Opert Racing once told me it was doable, but he probably got heat from BMW and will no longer play that. I was told that you just pay a little extra $$$, and they make a "mistake" on the order form. Come on BMWNA goon who decides U.S. interior color choices ... that light beige is a soil magnet! You almost need to require your passengers to wear shoe protectors, or not wear shoes altogether. [/quote]
I am going to try to accomplish the same thing. I'm also doing Euro-Delivery. The pics of the Truffle Brown that you get in the bmw.co.uk or bmw.de car configurators is really rich looking.

If that can't get finagle the Truffle Brown, then it will be Auburn.

what color was the interior of the Olivin green? Would it look good with black? I have to say that the black knocks my socks off, but the other US interiors don't look as good in my opinion.

 

Which dealer had the Olivin Green 545i (I hope it was is the Los Angeles area)? I've been waiting to see that color and yesterday I saw a new facelifted X5 that said "Olivin Green" on the window sticker. It was under the shade so I did not get to see it under the sun or in bright daylight, but it did not look like the paint chip in the E60 brochure. It looked a little darker than the paint chip in the brochure and there also was not much "green" in it, but I guess that could have been from the lighting. At first I thought it was the Kalahari Beige and just happened to glance at the sticker and was very surprised to read "Olivin Green". I even thought that the sticker may have an error and wanted to look at the paint identification tag under the hood, but the doors were locked and I did not want to talk to a salesman to open it up.

If the sticker was correct and that X5 WAS Olivin Green then I must say that I loved that color. I would like to see it in better lighting though, and preferably on the E60 instead of the X5 before I decide.

I went back to the dealership and was able to look under the hood of the X5 at the paint code tag (sticker) and indeed it said "Olivin Green". There was slightly better lighting today and I spent a good fifteen minutes looking at the car from all angles. I have to say that I REALLY love that color. However, I still don't know how the E60 would look in Olivin. One thing I can tell you guys for sure is that the car configurators on the BMWusa and other European BMW websites don't accurately represent the Olivin Green.

If anyone sees an Olivin Green E60 in the Los Angeles or other Southern California BMW dealerships please post the location here so some of us can go see it in person.

Nothing else really even to look at. I'm not sure if I'm more irritated at the dealers or the Seattle BMW buying public for a very narrow taste in vehicle colors.

It's the same here in the Los Angeles area. I've been to 6 different dealerships and they all have the 2 blacks, the 3 common Grays/silver, the 2 blues and one dealer had the white as well. The most "daring" dealer actually had the Amethyst Gray, which has NOTHING to do with gray at all. It is actually somewhere between brown and bronze. From all the pictures of the Amethyst Gray that I had seen I thought it was going to be a Gray with a violet tinge (that's the way it looked in the pictures), but I was pleasently surprised when I saw it in person. I still would not buy it but it certainly looked better than many of the other E60 colors that I have seen in person.

I can understand that the dealers want to order the most popular (easy selling) colors, but I feel that if they order at least ten or twenty percent of their allocation in the "less popular" colors they should still be able to find customers who like those colors and want their car to be more unique. I think many of the least ordered colors are often the better looking ones. I don't think it's so much the narrow taste of the buyers but rather the fact that the buyers don't get a chance to see the "other" colors in person because the dealers don't order them. If they did see them I bet many would like them too. I also feel that people may like some of the "other" colors they see in the brochures but dealers don't order them for their allocation and the customers don't want to order and wait two to three months to get them, so they choose from whatever the dealer has available (black, silver, Gray, blue).


Still waiting to see the Olivin Green on the E60.
