Give Dan @ BMW SF a shot. He'll work with you to give you the best possible deal and explain all the features inside and out. Good luck.

Thanks to all that responded - my brother is looking to order in a couple weeks and I will have him talk with Dan first.

When the 335 coupe first came out, I priced it in the Bay Area at $600 over invoice + $400 MACO. This was within the month of the vehicle being available for sale. Some dealers were actually adding a $2,500 markup. Stay away from those crooks. I assume the 535 is no different. You should be able to get the same type of deal!! I am sure Dan could get you a good deal but may not be the best if you are solely looking to get the best price instead of developing a working relationship. I have dealt with SF BMW before and the person (not Dan) was the worst!!

Good Luck, please keep us abreast of what the final deal was.

When I lived in SF, I had nothing but the BEST experience with BMW of SF. They are AWESOME! Dan will take good care of you, along with their service department. You can't go wrong. Have your brother talk to Dan and have Dan introduce your brother to the Service Manager. They'll give you a full tour of the place and let you know about their policies and procedures, should you end up buying the car from them. I think you'll be quite surprised.

Thanks low_ball_88. I generally don't try to squeeze every last penny out of a deal, unless the salesman is being a jerk. Since Dan comes recommended, I am sure a fair price can be had.

When I lived in SF in 2000, I looked at buying a 540i and SF BMW was really bad and would not budge from MSRP so I have a natural bias against them. But it was a different salesperson, so I am very open for my brother to use Dan.

My brother may lease, but rates are pretty high right now - does anyone think Aug-Sep rates will be any lower when delivery will take place?

I guess it just depends what salesperson you end up with and what kind of day that salesperson is having. I had a bad experience at Sonnen BMW in Marin and Peter Pan BMW, when I bought my E39 530i in 2002. They were so pushy and wouldn't work with me on any pricing...and I wasn't penny pinching. I was being quite reasonable, considering it was the last model year for the E39 and the E60's were already on ships, heading to the US.

Anyway LowOrbit...good luck man! I hope your brother is as excited as we are for him! LOL!

Hi LowOrbit!

Firstly many thanks to all my fellow friends and members who have put in a great word about me. One thing about me when I take care of people (referrals, friends, family) is that I don't care about the commission, to me it's all about making the buyer happy by getting him/her a great deal. At the same time a great relationship will naturally follow so it works out just fine. It doesn't matter if I've never met you before, I will tell my manager that you're one of my really good close friends so I need a great deal.

I'll shoot you a PM with my contact info and we'll work it from there! Thanks again guys!

Dan

Thanks Dan,

My brother has owned an MB E320 for a while so hopefully he will be hooked once he buys his first BMW. As mentioned, he is looking to order in a couple weeks.

Not a problem! The 535i is a much much funner car to drive over the E320! I think he'll be very happy with the product once I show him eveything about it.
