I checked the price at Twinkidneygrill.com, less 50 dollars, and it comes out to 1595 for the 6 year 100,000 maintenance plan for the e60. I went to Stevens Creek BMW while my car was being serviced last week, and asked what the maintenance program would cost, and the finance guy quoted 1995 also. I stated I'll give him 1595. He gave me the "no way shpiel" how BMW raised their prices recently yadda yadda... then I told him I would just have to buy it from twinkidneygrill for 1595, and that it will end up in the system either way. He then decided to price match ....Don't pay the full 1995 .

After reading the discussion, I am still confused since the $1,995 was for a total of 7 yrs 100,000 mi. while the $1,595 was for 6 yrs 100,000 mi. If I remember correctly, BMW offers a 6 yr. 100,000 mi. extended maintenance, or is there an option for 7yrs 100,000 mi.?

Regarding the Extended WARRANTY contract (third party) and not a Maintenance contract - I just got my '08 535xi MSport on Friday and, after much thought, decided to wait to take the Extended Warranty. I plan on a longer hold of this car, and will see how it is for the first 4 years, then decide to keep it and probably take out the Extended Warranty then. I see no compelling reason to buy it at delivery as it's available in 4 years, albeit for a more money. Just my take on it.

The below is taken straight from BMWUSA's website
For even more value, extend your plan for another 2 years or 50,000 miles.
When you purchase your BMW you can choose to upgrade your BMW Maintenance Plan for an additional 2 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This phase begins after the initial four year or 50,000 mile plan expires and it offers the same benefits and ownership value.
* The BMW Maintenance Program covers all factory-recommended maintenance on all model year 2006 vehicles and newer vehicles, as determined by the Service Level Indicator, for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Exclusions from coverage: gasoline, gasoline additives, windshield washer additives, tires, wheels, wheel alignment, tire balancing and rotation. All work must be performed by an authorized BMW center. See the Service and Warranty Information booklet for more details and exclusions.
