Ok, I've been combing through the forums for a little while now, and forgive me if I'm unable to locate the appropriate thread. I've done a series of searches, but still havent been able to come up with what I'm looking for.

Right now, my belts are screaming/screeching very loud. Is it bad to spray with belt dressing or WD40 type of products to see if it will temporarily subside?
This situation just started yesteday, and the dealer couldn't squeeze me in on a Saturday, so I have to deal with this horrid, embarassing, deafening noise.

Also, are the belts covered under my 100k maint. package? Some people here have said yes, others have said no, and some say to battle it out at the dealer.
A short while back the dealer suggested i replace them and quoted the job at 250+, but if its covered - i'm a happy camper.

Someone? Anyone? Please let me know your thoughts. This situation really ruined my weekend drivin' around with this loud a** noise.

I'm more than sure it is not a belt but rather a tensioner that screams.
It should be covered under warranty.

Had the same problem on my first car back in high school. It was the fan belt and it did get replaced ==> no more high pitch squeel.

Could not tell you if it's covered under warranty. I would think there is a such a huge varying in answers because there are 3 different types of warranties referred to but never clarified: CPO warranty, extended warranty and extended maintenance.

I think (don't quote me on this one) that your 100K mile maintenance program does not cover this. That info should be included in your paperwork when you purchased your BMW/maintenance package. If not, ask your SA, ask a few different SA's from different dealerships. no harm in checking...GL

Belts are covered under maintenance warranty as replacements. Had my X5 and my brothers 3 series replaced under that warranty.
