i went to service section of the idrive in the 535i and found that my car needs an oil change in 500 kms. the car only has 2600 kms on it.

any reason why it would need an oil change this soon? is this something i shoudl be concerned over?

Because when you break in the engine, the cylinders make a tight fit with the cylinder walls. This causes metal shavings to get into the oil and the oil gets very dirty very fast during the break-in period.
