1) Went to my dealership

3) Purchased the filter/ring etc
4) Showed my BMWCCA card and got a 15% discount

Total for the oil and filter came to $58. Then I went to a local Midas where I know most of the guys there and they drained and filled it for $10.

So, grand total for oil change was $68.00

I win.
Youre lucky, shops in WA wont use customer supplied parts for anything so you are stuck paying their prices a lot of times

Ah.....no you don't. I ordered a case of red line 5w30 from Racer Parts wholesale for $115 total shipped to my house (gas savings???) which comes out to around $9.58 per quart, ordered a filter from Gary at BMW of Rhode Island (25% discount) along with some other parts for my car (this oil change, which I did last night in my driveway, was on my wife's 325XI) for $9 total, shipping included. That's a total of $76 dollars to change her oil (it takes 7 quarts). Yes, that's $8 more than you, but I saved gas and mileage on my car, and have the satisfaction of having done it all myself. Plus, I still have 5 quarts of oil left for my 550i oil change which is coming up next.

I WIN!

Really, I would suggest you do your own oil changes all the time if you are not on the maintenance warranty, and in between oil changes if you are on it. Also, use Gary at the Rhode Island BMW dealer and get your 25% discount on parts, and shop online for your oil. You can get better quality oil for a cheap price if you shop around. And follow Mike Miller's "Old School Maintenance Schedule" at all costs. The man knows what he is talking about.

What I mean is I asked twice how much. and there is a difference between $100 and $200. I am asking to get the answer, so I know what to expect. Seing bill that is twice as much as expected I start asking questions...

I understand and I am giving you an answer. I have brought my car in for an oil change and not had the scope done. It is only required when there is a warning or the standard service is due. These guys were padding the bill and I would complain...

I checked RepairPal.com for your area Atlanta, GA (I'm assuming?) and the estimated price for an oil change at the dealer should be around $119. An independent shop's base rate should be close to $69.

Here in West Texas, I pay $85 plus tax for an oil change with a wash at my local Alderson BMW Dealership.

It is not the price for a V8 because You need to buy 9quarts of oil that at least here in Chicago is $7 per quart. So it is 63+tax just for the oil. Filter is $22. It roughly comest to $100. But like I said I am in Chicago.

JBU paid what I paid for my 545, also a V8. But that was four years ago!

Both of my BMW Centers always offer a Oil Change special for about $69. Not too bad, with a coupon.

I buy the oil and filter at dealer for $50, then a place by my house changes it for $19.
