Here in the Philippines where climate gets hot and humid, instead of replacing the door seals, the dealers place some sort of transparent tape around the door (where it meets the door seals) to prevent any noise or rattle. I thought my car was the only one who had that tape so I went to the dealers the following day and found out that it was a standard on all e60s.

Hi all,
had many people with that problem on the UK website I mainly use.
Finally one person came up, saying it's not the top window seals, but the creaking noise is created where the felt seal of the door hits the metal of the frame.
His solution was to lube that metal area of the frame with vaseline (probably better stuff out there), but more importantly it did the trick for each and everyone who tried it.

I had new seals replaced but the creaking noise came back after 4000km. Brought it back to the dealer and they cleaned the seals and noise is gone. Notes on the work order says the seals were 'contaminated'. There are other threads here that mention cleaning the door seals regularly.

When I had my Boxster and we had to deal with squeaks and rattles from the B-pillar, window and door seals, the Porsche message boards always recommended a BMW product called 'gummifledge' (<-- not 100% sure about the spelling). Perhaps that would help?

There are other threads here that mention gummifledge -- the problem is that there's a theory that gummifledge is a temporary solution and that it actually makes the noise worse after some time because it contains silicone.

BMW's older service bulletin (before the new seal part was released) said to use "silicone remover" and then use Carbaflo to treat the seals.

I'll be getting new seals the next time my car goes in so count me as a member of the creaky club...

I've had the new door seals since early July with no creaking. Sure, I do get the occassional creak or groan as I go over some very uneven ground as the body flexes a bit, but that seems normal to me. I no longer sound like an old creaking ship as I go over bumpy roads at lower speeds. Now the creaking strated for me after waxing my car, which I have not done since the new seals were put in, other than some of that spray on stuff from a drive thru car wash.

I read another post on this forum that the creak is actually coming from the window seals, so is it the door seals or the window seals thats making the noise? Once I lower the windows about 1mm, the noise goes away. From the post on the forum, it seems that the dealers aren't much help at all...
