Automatic is getting more efficient nowadays. Compared to manual transmission, it's just a few lbs heavier.
Regarding manual transmission, BMW owners are known for abusing their car by revving up close to redline

Gas Guzzler tax for my 550 SMG will be 1,300, this was a change from last year. it also applies to the manual.
