Sorry to hear that the flywheel is bad too.
Here is what I was charged at a BMW Center. Cost is in USD.
Labor: 6.0 hours @ $126/hour (discounted)
Clutch, part 21-20-7-531-556, $298.23, list price $509.61
Twin mass flywheel, part 21-20-7-533-868, $795.02, list price $1,186.04
+ misc parts under $20
+ brand new 530xi service loaner (<500 miles) Mon - Fri at no extra cost
Total bill came to about $1,800. Discount is a courtesy to BMW CCA members. The annual membership dues have more than paid off for me, plus the BMW NA rebates for new and CPO BMW purchases. At my next membership renewal, I'm selecting lifetime membership!

When allen called me from Bay Diagnostics he told me that the clutch looked like "hay" as in it was shredded and had basically blown to pieces. The flywheel had heat cracks in it was blue from how hot it had gotten. It seems whoever had the car before me abused it and I was finishing it off...The work should be completed by Friday...Total repairs costing 1182(clutch/labor) + 1588(flywheel)
Thanks for all the responses/feedback...

It's simple, and $40 a yr - got to www.bmwcca.org and register and that's all you need to do. Plus you'll get "Roundel" which is a really cool magazine (and according to some for us "old folks" )

haahah @ DIY, God knows I miss my honda...this car makes me feel helpless, and is killing my wallet
Thanks guys, I sure am hoping things go smooth from here on in. I told them to put the parts aside just so I can see how bad it was, assuming they remembered I'll take some pics and post em up.
As far as the cca, I'm def going to register
Thanks again for all the comments/feedback/concern, its appreciated
Kalvin

OUCH! Good Luck Kalvin! I hope I'll see you at the meet Saturday
Alan is a pretty good guy, but they aren't cheap. But from the way he explained it to me, they do a job the same way a dealership would - with all the error and computer messages reset and so on and so forth. They don't seem to be the kind of outfit that would charge you for a flywheel unless its necessary though. But in any case, do take pics of the old parts.
Again, Good Luck! I hope this is your last major repair with this car!

For those who replaced clutch/flywheel, how many miles you have when you need to replace clutch?
I am surprised to see so many people replace clutch.
