A very interesting site. It seems to try address one problem that most ratings sites suffer from, that is the subject of ratings rating themselves (if that makes sense).

Often I find that decent sites that offer ratings are prone to erroneous posting by those that are getting rated. With this site I find it comforting that they look for these bogus posting and remove them. An example would be that I performed a search on JMK where I bought my 530. It stated, "DEALER WARNING: This Dealership has written (7) reviews about themselves which were all removed. All new positive reviews will be delayed from being viewable for a period of (21) Months."

There still seems to be one of the problems that most of these 'ratings' sites suffer from which is heavily biased ratings. Often these sites only capture the most 'unhappy' or most 'happy' customer. They rarely capture the 'average joe/josephine''

Good stuff overall and good to look at in the future.

I've been using the dealerrater.com website ever since I bought the E60 in 10/2006. I wrote lengthy descriptions of my experiences, all of which were positive. I did suggest to the GM of my BMW Center that she take a look at the ratings her place had gotten (not from me), and her reply was "Yikes!" I guess they weren't sending in biased reports...at least at that point.

I appreciate this info. Interestingly, I checked all three of the local dealerships I have shopped and/or dealt with for service and the site's ratings mirrored my experiences almost exactly. I realize these types of rating systems by nature can not show thw whole picture, but it's a nice start, and at least in my case, accurate. Obrigado!

Which is better, a higher rating number or a lower? Mine was clear at one end of the scale.

Good point. I took a closer look at the surveys for my locals and those who answered "yes, would recommend" and spoke highly on the text section consistently gave 4s or 5s, the converse was true as well on lower numbers. So, 5 is tops and 1 (doesn't appear zero is an option!) is the bottom. The dealership I use has a 4.5, and the other two with which I had terrible experiences while shopping have a 2.7 and a 1.8. The 1.8 dealer even made the local news due to customer complaints. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and walked off the lot.
