Buy used M5 or keep 535d and chip it?

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.

Tough choice indeed -can't go wrong with either. I got the M5 bug and almost pulled the trigger but my inner voice stopped it. To satisfy my desire for the "next best thing" I chose to mod my car with a $10K USD budget. In doing so I get to satisfy my urge yet come out about $20K USD ahead if you know what I mean.

Why dont you keep the 535 - I have one with the DMS remap, and I cant think of a car I would rather own (given that I need a practical family car for a few years).
With the extra money, go and do your bike test (direct access) and buy yourself a supersports 600. 0-60 in 3 seconds and 0-100 in about 5/6. You will get loads of satisfaction from learing to ride and you will improve your skills in the car as well.
You will then be able to have trackdays aplenty and a top laugh too!
Then when you are comfortable, you can invest in a nice ZX10 r/R1/Fireblade to really scare the squirrels!
With the extra money, go and do your bike test (direct access) and buy yourself a supersports 600. 0-60 in 3 seconds and 0-100 in about 5/6. You will get loads of satisfaction from learing to ride and you will improve your skills in the car as well.

. I already have my bike licence. Last bike I owned was a GSXR750 back in 1995 oh they don't make em like they used to. Fireblade all the way me thinks

I see a couple of US based guys saying not to bother with the M5, now that surprises me, if I were in the states were fuel was costing me 32p a litre instead of 95p a litre I would have an M5 tomorrow!!
Based on 25000 miles a year the M5 would only cost ?250 a month in fuel rather than ?750 a month.

And I agree, they dont make em fat, unbalanced, heavy and with crap brakes like they used to
