OK, I think my front brake pads are finally finished.
By "finally" I mean: the car did 106.000 km on them (from new) and iDrive tells me they're still good for another 5.000km.
(I drive mostly on autobahn and avoid heavy breaking, I rather brake with engine)
But now: I called the dealer to make an appointment for the brake pads replacement and they asked what mileage I have on them. When I said: 100K km they almost screamed and said that probably also brake discs need to be replaced immediately.
So, I need your opinion, as this will be my first "brake" service ever in E60:
Is that true? Do I need to replace discs already? How do I tell?
I'm looking at 250 EUR for the brake pads job in Germany (nearest dealer ca. 10km from home), in Luxembourg they quote 350 EUR for the same job (dealer ca. 5 km from my office). Additionally, they said about 300 - 400 EUR for discs.
So, I would prefer to know a truth from my dear fellow members if it's crucial to change discs as well at the same time, cause if it is I would stick to German dealer (to save couple of hundreds on the same job)
Otherwise, the Luxembourgish one is much more convenient (I drop the car before work, and pick up in the evening)
Your advice please?

Before they change the discs they should measure the discs thickness with a micrometer or vernier (If they have been taught how to use one!!). That will give an indication as to whether they will last to the next brake pad change.
As an example my brake discs and pads were changed prior to me taking delivery of my car and the front pads were changed again just recently, the discs were well within the OEM limits...because I asked for the exact measurements

Thanks a lot!!
Any idea where can I find those measure numbers for the discs thickness ( minimum / maximum ) ?

24mm new > 22mm minimum.
Quick check to do without taking wheels off and measuring; use your finger through the wheel spokes feel for a noticeable lip/ridge on the disk edge and check for any scoring or ripples on the disk surface across the radius.

Discs look good, but I will know tomorrow morning if they want to replace them as well, or not yet...
