Just found out that you can take up the Service Inclusive for the 5 Series in the UK if it wasn't taken up on first registration. The cost is still the normal ?750 and obviously gets dated from the date of first registration. It can also be purchased anytime until the first service of the vehicle.

I'm now considering whether to take up this up. I do about 10,000 miles a year, so I expect I will have longer service intervals than higher mileage cars. So may have less servicing costs during the 5 year, 60000 miles period, possibly only having 2 oil services and the normal 30000 mile service I guess. Anyone know what the costs might be and whether I should take up the Service Inclusive package?

Thanks

Hi. I am not sure of Service Inclusive. I just ordered a 525d and was told Service Inclusive is now ?1000 not ?750.
I have a 328Ci right now and am doing low mileage (35k after 4 yrs). I certainly have not spent ?1,000. I struggle to get a service every 18months with those low miles.

Hi BMW 530. yep it's 750GBP and I think it's good value - I'm certainly planning to buy it before the 1st service.
I had originally planned to only keep the car for 2(ish) years - but ( depreciation will make it hard to upgrade in the near future - By the way I was shocked to see a 7% discount available on new ones now!) And time passes faster than you expect ! Five years passes fast !

The service interval is as the computer on the car indicates or 1 year which ever comes first.

Stu,
I guess the discounts on the E60 reflect the market for cars as a whole. A 6% discount on an E class is easily achievable and I suppose the E class is the E60's biggest competitor. Unless a car is in short supply and high demand e.g. X5 then market forces will result in discounting by dealers anxious to achieve targets. Lets hope that now there are more E60's on the road this will increase demand - I personally think the old 5 series looks very dated. By the way I got a very good trade in on my departed A4 Cabrio and a 6.5% discount on the 520 E60.

BMW525d,

Along with Stu I confirm that its ?750. My salesman orginally thought there was a price increase due as well and said that I may want to take it up before the price increase. However on checking with his colleagues the price increase will be for the 7 series. Obviously there's a bit of confusion on the price here. If it is ?1000 then it does sound very expensive.
My concern like you is the relatively low mileage I do. I had a 325iSE before my 530iSE and in 2 and half years I did just over 20k. During that time I had one oil service (1.5 yrs) and a brake fluid change (2yrs). The total cost was nearly ?200. If the Interval 1 (or equivalent service) costs ?200+ then it might just be worth it.

Stu,
How many miles do you normally do?
7% discount? Would that have been for a ordered to spec car or for a car already at the dealer. When I was planning to order a new one there were suggestions that I would get no discount. I must admit that I'm not good at haggling though.

Mark-Yorkshire,
There's a lot of nearly new E60s on the BMW forecourts, which is where I got mine from. I had a good deal on mine which was 3months old and only 350 miles on the clock. You may have read about in the "Basic Climate Control Fan Info" topic.

BMWHobo,
I know about the service interval on the computer but am surprised about the 1 year if it comes first. I thought it would have been like the E46 3 series and the other BMWs where service requirements are dependent on the way the car is driven etc.

I've done nearly 1000 miles on my E60 and the oil service mileage is 13000 is this correct? When I took delivery of the car at 350 miles (as mentioned earlier) the oil service was also at 13000 miles. I thought the oil service was set to 15000 like the E46 3 series? This of course will decrease as your mileage increases. Is this correct?

bmw530

My 545i is on 2000 miles and the service indicator say 16000 left and first first service in Feb. 2006

Almost as if ?750 will be too much , if you have a service every two years , meaning 2 services in 5 years.

Slightly off topic , my wifes Mini has done 7000k miles in two years (she has the TLC package) and it looks as if I may have to pay for any service as it has not yet done 8-10,000 MILES ??

No matter how little you drive - your car should always be frequently serviced.
Servicing is especially important if the car is driven very little..
