Dude, you owe us big time!!? Congratulations!

(Not that it's required or anything but a donation to the forums might be a way to "thank" us for convincing you to go after that other 50%... )

Rudy, Hormazd;
Sorry I actually thought Rudy was kidding. You get accustomed to feeling that everything on the internet is free, We forget that there are people that actually are designing and maintaining this Forum. Sorry for this generalized assumption. I also now notice a "Donate" link that I never noticed before. I will absolutely and happily contribute, you guys have done a great job. Also a thankyou to all of the members that also make this a great informative Forum.

That's great pennetta! The donate link just popped up about a week ago so I forgot that some members may not have seen it yet.

Thanks for your contributions to the forum as well...

(By the way, it's time you updated your sig where it says "Things I added because of this forum..." to include four free Dunlop tires!)

I was just told that BMW could no longer get the Bridgestones for up to three months, this was confirmed by me when I called my local tire dealer. I was told by my BMW advisor that he has confirmed with his sources that the Dunlops have been changed to a different compound/design that deals with the noise problem. Anyway to confirm this?

it's true! just be sure to ask him to be sure they are the NEW ones.

also, for the benefit of the forum, ask him how to identify the new ones over the old ones?

I have a 545is with 13,000 miles. Tires are making the standard racket. BMW said they will pay 50% for new tires. Now my choice. The Bridgestones have a UTW (universal tread wear) rating of 140 verses the Dunlops UTW of 280. Since my car drives unbelievable around a corner with the Dunlops I don't think the softer compound of the Bridgestone will benefit me much more. Solely because of the rating of 140 v. 280 I would go with the Dunlops again. But it won't help if the longer lasting Dunlops start making noise again. Did they change the Dunlops design since we all have been having problems with them or are they the same tire design prone to noise after 10K miles? Any opinions?

50% was $817, but I eventually got them covered 100%.

I have an August 04 build date on my Sept ED Delivery 545. Does anyone know when BMW started putting the new compound Dunlops on. I think mine are a bit noisey at 6,000 mile, particularly when coming to a stop. I won't bring the issue up with the dealer if it's after the supposed change over.

Thanks,

SveaRike
