Once this is installed you'll have a new screen in iDrive and be able to plug in any mp3 player, cd player, etc.. and play it through the cars stereo system

does anyone know?

Yes, the 2007 530 definitely has an auxiliary input that is located at the rear of the center console (a rather awkward location). I use it quite often to play mp3s through the car speakers. It does not, however, interface with iDrive. All functions (other than volume) must be controlled through the mp3 player itself.

Why? Or are you equating the lower volume that you notice fom the aux input to the ipod?

You have to crank the volume alot louder than when you listen to any other source, ie cds/mp3s. There is a write up on removing some resistors on the aux jack part of the car.

Right... that's the fault of the AUX input... not the iPod's.

Removing the resistors improves the sound QUALITY massively, but if you use the line out from the ipod (which you should) it will still be quieter than the other sources.
