I emailed BMW about my desire for iDrive to accomodate call waiting and pauses in dialing strings and here is the response I got:

We unfortunately have not received any information at this location indicating these features will be available for use through he iDrive system. However, we will forward your comments to the engineering department for review and future consideration.
