The 523i moves the E60 well enough.

You'll enjoy your extras and after a while you
cannot understand how to live without them!

But I must also say that I could live without the HUD.

Me too, it is a really nice feature to have but not having it would not stop me from buying a car, if you travel in Europe a lot though it a awsome, you can set everything to euro settings and the HUD is then a godsend.

Thanks for all the comments:

The 523 is a 2.5L, 177BHp engine and is fast enough given all the speed cameras around in the UK. I felt I'd rather spend the extra ?/? on some nice toys instead.

I'm sure it will still be great fun

Indeed. I can't fathom the ?1.5k jump from 523i to 525i? Basically the same engine, slightly different tune?
