I finished seeing my patients early today and decided to fool around with the BMWUSA website. I ended up making a $78751 528i after adding every available option. Not that I'm in the market for one. Ever seen such an expensive 528?

I don't know if this link will work, but I got it to about 78k. I got the 4K M wheelset with no tires and the M aero kit, so I didn't add the other two options for wheels. Added the silly stuff like bike holders, ski rack. The car looks stupid and I don't know why anyone would want Lane Departure Warning systems. Right, vibrate my hands just as I sideswip a semi-truck and off a cliff...and it would still be vibrating my steering wheel as I was going down. That would be annoying. The link:

The xi, I'm sure, would eclipse the 80k mark. I'm scared to see a 535xi.

As an aside....I don't mind the lane departure warning. It is a subtle but enough of a warning to let you know to get back on course. I belive its only momentary (example: switching lanes without signals activates it for a few seconds) and it does NOT activate under 40 mph or if it can't detect two lines such as new pavement or fog, etc. It is annoying on a twisty road where you want to touch the edges to apex a corner so I turn it off then. I have seen a few cases where its fooled by angled lines in the pavement or old lines in construction zones such as lane shifts. Because of this, I would NEVER own a car with lane departure prevention that tugs the wheel when it detects you off course. The first wreck caused by those systems will sue the pants off those manufacturers.

I've seen 550s for over $80k but never a 528i or even 535i for close to that

I'm not saying it can't be done. I've just never seen one in a showroom or elsewhere.

umm
why don't you just not check all the options?
there are always so many unnecessary options for german cars, and half of the options are not worth paying at all
