Hello,
I just ordered my 545i Y2005 . Does anyone know what happens if BMW issues a price change during the build? and how do I know if this has happened? Is there a place to look for this information?

Thanks

What did you sign when you ordered the car? It should have been a commitment for you to buy/lease the car at the negotiated price, and for the dealer to sell the car at the negotiated price. Any future pricing decisions shouldn't affect your deal.

Unless there was fine print

The price we negotiated is fixed as noted on the contract, however, what happens if BMWFS changes their rates, residuals, etc. during the build?
Thanks again

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.

When I ordered mine, there was not a firm contract per-say. The dealer provided the current prices and what our negotiated discount was and that was it. I gave him a $1000 and started the waiting period.

It was my understanding that if BMW changed pricing, that was my tough luck, however the chances of that happening where small. Also, the $1000 down was not a big deal. If I changed my mined, at least in CA, they would have to refund my money.

Usually, any factory offers are tied to delivery date, not order date.

However, I don't think you have to worry as it seems BMW makes changes with model year and/or calender year. For example, the 2004 pricing changed around January 2004 due to the $/euro difference. The 2005 model year base price of the 545i changed, but that was due to BMW including lumbar support instead of it being an option.

Not sure about how lease contracts work.

You can lock in financing rates 60 days prior to delivery. If the Money factor goes up, and you do not have the rates locked, there could be a problem.

Exactly...Just found out that the residuals for May went down by 2%, and since my car isnt anticipated for more than 60 days, I get the new residual. <_< That being said my salesman will lock me before the end of this month, in case figures change again.

My dealer said the same...I ordered on 5/2/2005 and the 60 day build time might put me into July delivery so I might get the July residual (unknown what that might be according to dealer). How often is the delivery shorter than 60 days?

Depends on your dealer's allocation. Did you ask the dealer to do a search of any incoming 545 that has the specs you want? Maybe they can do a dealer swap.

Since your Car is on order wait till the end of May to lock down lease terms..then if your car comes end of july, you're OK
