It is not sport model, no Nav , logic 7 or lights .? Has cold weather & Prem. pkg, 17'wheels, bluetooth (I'm pretty sure) has summer (full) and winter (only front but 3) matts, auto trans. and they will add bmw factory cd changer at no charge.

Or do you think people will start trading in there 04's and 05's for the new 06's and I'll get a better deal??????? HELP.....
I do not think that is a very good deal. I bought the exact car new without the Prem. package for about 39K.

In my point of view, the E60 is a performance sedan, not a luxury sedan. If you want luxury, top-notch materials, and unbeatable quality, there are other makes that are better suited, such as Lexus. Buying an E60 with an underpowered engine is robbing yourself of the primary reason to own a BMW (I would classify not getting the sport package in this category also).
I dont exactly agree with that statement. You should puechase what you can afford. I was trying to decide between a loaded 330 and my "underpowered" 525. I chose the 525 because of the looks, larger size, and it was within my budget. I dont drive very fast but I do enjoy the awsome handling of the 5 series. I guess it is all about perspective. I have have always driven SUV's and trucks so the 525 was very much a performance sedan to me. This was also my first BMW, and I have never driven a 5 with the larger engine or sport package. One of these days when the excitement of my "lesser" 525 wears off I will look into a 530 or 545 with the sport package. I guess in my case ignorance is bliss, but it does give me something to look forward to in the future when I can afford a more expensive model.

Actually i drove the 05 525I for 5 days and i feel the power is ok for daily use. That's the reason why i sold my 04 530I to get a 06 525I.

You should try to find an '05 525 sitting on a lot. They may try to dump it kinda cheaply on you because they are trying to sell the new models.

I've driven both the 2005 and 2006 525, and the '06's new engine makes a HUGE difference in acceleration. The '05, in my opinion, was woefully underpowered but the '06 feels peppy and is surprisingly quick.

Do yourself a favor and pony up the extra $4k for a new 2006 525. You'll be glad you did.

I have a 2005, and I have to agree. This car needs a little more kick off the line, but that's cause I'm a ruffneck. But for open road and out-and-about, this car is enough for me. 6 months and 4 tickets in a 525... 6 months in a stronger BMW, I'd be in jail (again ).

Don't buy it. While I think an M5 is not worth the money, a 525 is like getting a breeding dog with one testicle. Why bother? Wait until you can at least get a 530. Go get a Toyota Avalon for now and enjoy cheap luxury and power, while you save your money for a 530 (or 550!) a few years down the road. You will thank me later, I promise

I bought it and I understand what you are saying but before this car I had (to name a few of my hp cars) a Cadillac SLS (think it had 2??) a Lexus GS400 that was 300 hp and a Lincoln LS v8 that was 285 hp and I honestly don't really miss the hp that much, off the line I do admit that I miss it a little, but with the 17.1 update I do feel like there is a little more power and once I am on the highway the car does fly (or at least seem that way) I'm also trying to get better gas mil. (I'm still only doing 16 mpg if I'm lucky, I don't understand it, I must drive like a real A$$hole and I have really been trying to drive right!!!) especialy since gas is going up and up and up... by the way MistressBMW Like the name

John007,

If you are happy with it, then it seems to have worked out. Just don't go test drive a 550 when they come out in a few months, you might do something foolish and swap out too soon like I usually do

I totally agree with John007. I have an 05 525 and I love. It matches everything I wanted. It's a five series and it fit into my budget. I've never owned a BMW before so this was a good car to start out in. Plus I'm pretty young, so going too fast is not what I want. I used to have a 2000 Z28 and that got me in plenty of trouble.

I would say if your happy with it do. Drive it around a bit, see how you like the acceleration and how it feels. It seems like everyone on here owns a 545, but I can't afford one, yet. So don't over burden yourself, and if you like it, get it. BTW, I paid ~44k for mine. $47k seems a bit crazy. I don't think I was too much over MSRP.
