This was lifted from Bimmerfest from a post by SARAFIL:

MY05 5-Series
-New Option:
--- 217- Active Steering (stand-alone)
-Lumbar standard on 530, 545
-Poplar wood trim standard on 525, 530
-PDC standard on 545
-Middle console changed to include more wood trim and less plastic, dash colored accents
-205 now an option on 545i, ZSS eliminated (now only one Sport Package available, ZSP, must order option 205 and ZSP for Automatic Sport Package)

Lumbar and PDC are now standard on the 545....which is unfortunate for me as I just got an '04 and didn't buy these options. I wonder what the new 2005 MSRP will be??

Hey there, Mark!

Dude...how's your car? Mine's in the shop getting the ejectbox/phone system configured, and hopefully getting CIP12 installed as well to resolve a seat/mirror/steering wheel memory problem.

I won't miss the lumbar stuff, but getting PDC standard sure would have been nice. I'm very curious to see what they do w.r.t. the middle console. I'm thinking that the spot below the NAV drive will change from plastic to wood, and maybe even the entire middle console going to wood (from the iDrive screen all the way to the shifter plate).

Changing that middle console to wood would be great - shouldn't be too difficult to retrofit existing cars either.

Hopefully not, unless they rework the whole center-dash/center-console interface. I guess we'll see come early october when the '05's start showing up over here.

Anyone on track for a MY05 get any new info from their dealers? I'm still waiting on mine to let me know once he can actually put the order in.

NickP,

I have not heard much back from my dealer yet on the 05. I will be triing to firm things up July 24th, so we will see.

He did send me the same information that was previously posted, so sorry no additional news yet.

From my understanding you only got the wood trim if you ordered the Premium pkg on a 525, and if you did not order it you got a titanium finish, are they saying that in MY2005 there is no Titanium anymore and everything is wood? Personally I like the titanium.

Peace

Rats... nothing... Still nothing in dealernet or any other BMW NA system advising on 05 allocation. They're thinking this coming week. If anyone hears anything post it here.

At this point the '04 and '05 standards seem to be exactly the same but it looks like we will have more options for '05 like the M sport pkg(I hope in the US)

Peace
