My Ride: 2005 530i - Alpine white with auburn interior; tip, xenon, pdc, sirius, prem, cold weather, red reflectors and xpel.
It seems you are being offered a good discount on the car. I cannot tell on the lease pmt since you haven't provided all the details. If you are being offered the base MF without a premium it looks like an attractive deal. The dealer can also markup the lease acq. fee $200.
I don't think anyone can say with any certainty the way pricing will work out on the new models. IMHO, residuals are already high so I am not sure how much they can move upward. The MF are more apt to increase (BMW rates are lower than most of its comp) given BMW's current need to move the 05 before the new engines come here. I have no idea if there will be or how much of a price increase on the new cars. My guess is there will be an increase and dealers won't be discounting so heavily (at least at first). Ultimately, I don't think we will see the same attractive lease prices as we are now unless the 5 series sales falter. There is so much competition entering the market, so it can happen (A6, RL, M35/45).
While prices are likely to go up, I would say wait for the new model if you feel the difference in HP matters. If not, the 530i is a bargain now.

I think the sentiment that the great lease deals will evaporate when the new cars hit.? My salesman, whom I have known for 8 years, said alot of people are waiting for the new engines and the lease residuals and money factors are so low right now to get people to buy the current 5, which is great by the way.?
The other issue, and only time will tell, is that the M54 inline 6 is mature and very stable.? Will the new engine be as stable first year??
The residual and money factor make a huge difference in your lease payment.

Reliability of the new R6 is questionable since its the first model year for this new engine. This was the main reason for me, not to wait. Also, since I have a 3 year lease, I will just get the R6 next time around when all the bugs have been worked out. This is just my reasoning.
You forgot sports package and SMG?

[/quote]Good points. I don't want sports package because I am interested in more of a smooth ride than what I would expect to get in the sports package. I drive on a lot of shady roads in and around NYC.
What is SMG?
