I've never liked Audi interiors and this is no different. The exterior is nice.....it's not just the tail lights that look like the E92, but it has some flame surface design on the side too.

I actually prefer the interior of the A5 vs. the e90's and absolutely think these seats are better too. The fit, finish, and feel, however, is something that needs to be experienced by sitting in the car. In this regard I've sat inside an A6 and A8 and fell in love with the interior design and the feel of the materials. But driving the A6 and A8 was a different story. I don't particularly like how these cars feel with spirited driving. It's difficult to describe, but they've always felt heavy at the front end which is a major negative in my book.

Exterior is nice. It took some time for me to warm-up to Audi's nuvolari grill and now I'm liking it. The lines of the body have an agressive flow which is fitting for a coupe. I like the A5 from all angles.

The two things that would keep me away from this car is the driving characteristics and power. So far, worldcarfans.com lists two engine choices: a 3.0-litre TDI V6 and 3.2-litre FSI V6 petrol unit delivering 255 HP. Worldcarfans
This just isn't enough for me to enjoy, however, S or RS versions would grab my attention in a split second.

Yeah but to make it true they tried to make it audish aka "original". Look at the way the lower side of the car just closes in as if the car shoudn't have sills or smth.
Compared to the E92 it looks so much uglier.

I dunno this just begs to be pushed, unlike the Audi. The audi leaves me cold, and it gives me the feeling that the car doesn't have any passion, it's just an ordinary car, safe and docile, from the IRobot movies. The same with the A6 vs the E60.

I'm with you on this one. I don't understand why people rave about Audi's interiors. Maybe they are constructed well, but there's just too much black on black going on. Do they offer any other interior colors besides black? I've never seen an interior press photo in any other color than black, and they look really dull and depressing. Then again, one could argue that could be the fault of the photographer.

On a side note, I am seriously considering getting the S5 over the 335i. The exterior and performance look good enough for me to consider it a candidate over the 335i.

S5? My friend, if for real it will be smth like that then i suspect the 335i M packed should have smth to say. No doubt the 335i is a monster but even so if that ain't enough well here comes the new M3. And i have a hunch that will take care of all the S5/RS5/RS4s

Food for thought...

These are data reported by Motor Trend mag in the US. Not exactly the best source but something to keep us thinking:

2007 Audi RS4
0-60mph = 4.5sec
1/4 mile = 13.0sec @ 102.1mph
Passing 45-65mph = 2.1sec
Braking 60-0mph = 112ft
600-ft slalom = 67.5mph avg
(August '06 issue)

2006 BMW M5
0-60mph = 4.5sec
1/4 mile = 12.9sec @ 114.9mph
Passing 45-65mph = 1.8sec
Braking 60-0mph = 114ft
600-ft slalom = 67.7mph avg
(March '06 issue)

I think it's fair to say that these two cars are equally matched in the categories above. Driver skill can turn the favor one way or the other.
What are the chances that BMW will produce an M3 that will eclipse their very own M5 in performance? It's like shooting themselves in the foot.
I understand these are in two different classes for two different target groups. I can speak only for myself when I say I wouldn't want to drop >90,000USD on an M5 only to be out-performed by its little brother.
We all know BMW is quite capable of producing the next M3 to perform better than the M5 but I just feel that they will most certainly "stage" it so that it doesn't. It's all part of marketing.

I can't recall, but what was the last generation like (e39 M5 vs. e46 M3)? Did the M3 equal the M5 in the categories described above or perhaps even surpass it?
Bottom line is, I wouldn't be so quick to praise the upcoming M3 when we still don't know enough about it yet.

Weren't people saying that when the e65 7 series got a face-lift, it's rear lights resembled Audi? Then soon after the e92 coupe appeared with rear lights similar to the e65. Isn't it BMW copying Audi?
