What looks better a 550i or a CLS 500?

Totaly agree with that.
I also considered the CLS350 before the 530 but i didnt have to test drive it to reject it.
I was with one of my twin sons who loves cars and would take an M5 over a Lambo anytime so you understand that he is in love with E60s.Anyway i was with him in the MB showroom when we saw the CLS and we were amazed.We asked the guy to unlock one for us and when we sat in the car i knew that it wouldnt be my new vehicle just because of the interior and my son agreed immediately and said that as beautiful it looks from the outside it is as ugly from the inside.As you said its too high especially at the passenger's side.I admit though that it looks very good but not better that the 550 or any 5er.
Look how much higher the interior of the CLS is in comparisson to the e60.

Well to in my opinion the CLS looks sexier on the outside than the 550i non sport pack.
But like already said above, the interior is looking much better in the BMW than in the MB.
I don't really like the big wood trim in the middle. I more like the small and long trim in the BMW.
And then something else you need to know; the CLS is a coup? and the BMW is not.
So you need to compair the CLS more with the 6 series. Then you will see the roof is curving down towards the end of the car and that gives 'difficulties' to the back passengers because they don't have large head space.
So if you want your passengers to sit comfortable choose the 5.
Add the sport pack and nice rims to it and it will beat the CLS in driving experiences and interior

And then i definitely choose the 5
