To each is own. This sounds to me like a classic case of small penis syndrome. Sorry to hear this Cobra. Best of luck in your new underwear. So much for comparing apples to apples.

[quote name='wolverine' date='May 19 2005, 02:32 PM']Porsche is a sports car.? The 545i is a luxury sports sedan.? Totally different cars.?

I test drove a 997 S a few weeks ago with sports suspension and sport shifter.? Incredible car - laser steering, awesome engine, race-car suspension, shift throws were maybe an inch or two.? Definitely the most fun-to-drive car I've driven in some time.

However, no way would I drive someone else in this car, especially my wife.? At slow speeds, on bumpy roads it feels like a truck.? On the highway at cruising speeds it is noisy and rough.? And, forget about driving the Porsche in snow, just don't even think about it.? For everything but me driving alone on twisty smooth roads, I'll take my 545.

If you want the best luxury sports sedan in the world, it's still a BMW.? If you want the best sports car in the world, it's a Porsche, but you better have a second car.

guy here had a GT2 .. gave it to Porsche to put a roll cage in it (takes it to track). He then got a call saying they'd wrote it off test driving it.
They've replaced it with a GT3 RS. He's currently at the Gumball rally with it.

See ya, Cobra27. Nobody should fault you for falling for a Porsche. Who doesn't want one! Enjoy the handling and live within the space.

I too made the change, only I went the other way. I had owned a 1990 C2 for years and while it was a great driving car it was also noisey, undependable, and full of it's own flaws. LOL better have stock in a tire company. Anyway I have found the 545 a great daily driver offering almost the same preformance as the 911 but with much more in the comfort department. Besides now I can fit my family in the car.

Porsche is a great (second) car. It was the only car I had for about 2-3 months in between the 528 and the 545. Now that I have the 545, I often consider selling the Porsche.

To each his own, but if I had to make a choice between the two cars it would not be a hard one to make.

The Porsche is a great attention getter and is loads more fun to drive than the BMW. But the 545 is truly the "whole package."

Cobra27 clearly doesn't understand the terms "ULTIMATE evaluation". when i do an evaluation on a 545i vs. a Porsche, i would look at Style, Room, Handling, Luxury, Sport, Finesse, Elegance, etc. etc. Now for me, the E60 inherrits all these as the Porsche only grabs on two 2 or 3 of these features. Don't mind me, porsche is a great great car but I've never been a fan of its styling nor the rough ride.

If we are to use the words "The Ultimate Driving Machine", just the fact that the E60 has all the aspects covered, I think of an E60 (not trying to be biased )

Now if you were to compare the Porsche next to a Ferrari, that would be a apples to apples comparison. and in my eyes, the Ferrari 360 Modena is the god of all cars (yes, it even sh*ts on a Porsche)

See ya Cobra27...have a nice bumpy ride.
