I hear everyone's BMW loyalty coming through loud and clear, but you have to give Audi credit for the first mover advantage regarding the first 3 series / C class / A4 model sized car to hit the 400+ HP mark.

Thanks for the vid. After all this Audi bashing, I think we as an automotive community should respect all auto manufactures and recognize that BMW is not the vehicle for everyone and nor is applicable to all applications. If I remember correctly in the mid 90?s BMW was getting their A$$ kicked on the German Touring Circuit by those A4?s with all-wheel drive . All in all I love BMW, but I will not follow blindly and tune everyone else out.

Now thats a nice looking VW Jetta!?
2007 M3 will obviously destroy that "competition"
Who wants a fast 4 door sedan anyways?? What are you going to do, take the kids to soccor practice in under 4.8 seconds??

I love the fact that there is competition between manufacturers to get our $$. Not everyone wants or needs the same thing. I need a pickup truck, BMW make that? No. My wife had a specific list of requirements for her cabrio. We went shopping at MB, BMW, Jag, Volvo, Audi. From her list I knew no American car then (2003) or even now would meet her criteria. It was amazing to see her operate at the various dealers. At MB and Jag, she looked, listened to me explain some of the features she had high on her list and bolted. The salesmen would hustle up and she would look'em in the eye and say - not for her, throw her head back and walk away. The looks on those guys faces was pure pleasure to me. In the end only BMW and Audi qualified and the 03 Audi A4 Cabrio won hands down. I knew I would get to drive maybe 100 miles in every 5000, so my priorities did not count. At 20,000 miles she is still absolutely happy, no problems at all. But we all know that those other cabrios have their fans and there just cannot be one size fits all.
I personally love to test drive various models and make my own comparisons. It's one thing to read about some good or bad feature but just like movies, books, boats, homes, etc., nobody knows what you want except you.
Now, I look at that RS4 cockpit and I see way too busy. Maybe looks ok, but not to my liking even though I claim to be a gadget man. I also do not like what they did to the exterior. Too small a car for that mammoth dripping nose. They messed up a good looking automobile to make it look like the rest of the Audi family, IMHO

This is quickly becoming a heated topic.
Minds have already been made.
Decisions have already been set in stone.
Yet one factor remains...no one here has driven either the new RS4 or new M3.
Not all BMW owners are blinded, although it would be difficult to persuade me from them after trying the competitors. I'll reserve judgement until I've had a chance to put mileage on both.
For now, all I can say is those are and nothing more.

on allt he boards I have ever been, if MB, Audi, VW and Jap Foreign Cars, e60.net ; IE BMW boars are the worst.
CLOSED MINDED people - NOT everybody, but a bunch. I have NEVER seen so many stupid non-sense negative comments agains another manufacturer.
iceman; do you work for BMW ? you seem to defend every & all of their happenings, wether it be software issues, bad customer service (at times) and/or anything else. You're the man.

Now, it's a BMW boards, so of course there are negative comments about other car manufacturers. This an E60 forum, not a "car competition" frum, so ppl don'T register for the reason to compare cars...
BTW, stupid non-sense... that's your opinion. I don't see it this way.
Finally:
WHY does everybody who doesn't like one of my statements asks me if I work for BMW?
If I do, what what it change? If not... Does this changes something?
Again: NO, I don't work for BMW, NOT YET...
