Right, you go around telling people how many Bimmers you have and then saying you can't afford the price difference between the M3 and the E55, get a grip of your logic. You really do lead people into thinking you are bu**$hitting all the time.
the e55 is 115000euro, and that is too much money to spend on 1 CAR, especially considering its not a limousine

Oh and by the way, Hong Kong is not a British Colony anymore. Don't you read newspaper? Or do you read anything besides car's specs / AMG this and AMG that.
Ok this is getting hilarious...

About the brakes...

I was absolutely lucky to get invited to BMW ///M days where I could test M5 and M6 on circuit and eat and stay in hotel... 2 great days. There, a person asked, "why no ceramic brakes on the ///M's". They told us that the reason was that the ceramic brakes get good after you are driving for a while, when you start the car they aren't that good and therefore they wouldn't go for it...
Yes that's because they do need alot of heat to start work at optimum levels. I do think that might be a problem, unless you have a GT3 and track your car often.

Not driven any AMG myself. I think you can see it like this:

Mercedes is luxury, the S is (and will always be) the ultimate luxury car, every benz has in it's class the most comfort and soft driving

BMW is not that much luxury, but more sportivity, the suspension is harder but you get more sportivity

Audi is between the two above, less luxury than the benz, and less sportivity than the BMW

You can translate that to the sport-versions

The ///M is the most "hardcore", most sportive, less comfort
AMG goes very fast, but you still keep a little comfort
RS/S in between

That's what I think, so don't eat me when you not agree ...
Couldn't agree more.

I second that. SL55 is much better looking than an M6. Just my opinion.
I totally agree with you.
I'll pick SL500 over M6 anytime. Design of 6 series doesn't look it's worth that much.
SL looks HOT in any angle.

Just my opinion, please don't kick me out of this forum.

for and e55, not in an e55

it means i couldnt afford it , you seriously need to get a grip of your british english. Especially considering that you lived in a british colony

700700 - I have lived in the UK for 33 years and have never come accross the phrase 'stretch my legs' in this context.

'Stretch my legs' is universally used as a way of saying that one is off for a short 'refreshing' walk.

'Not got the legs' is a well worn phrase often used in a sporting environment (especially cricket).

I think what you meant to say was that you "couldn't quite stretch to the e55 AMG"

Ordinarily I would not comment, but if you are going to advice others on the correct use of English I though you might appreciate some helpful critique.

Hows the 330xd working out?

Being a long time BMW fan and truly enjoying a "drivers" car I recently purchased an 05' SL55 and all of you who think that all Merc's are not real sports car are missing out. I love the 545i and maybe upgrading to an M5 this fall but I would never give up my Sl55. As far as a Porsche goes, they are most certainly a fantastic true sports car but given all of the limitations on the roads today the SL55 gives me the thrill of 500hp and also the ability to drop the top in no time and enjoy a a great drive. The ride is not tough or jarring even on NY roads. According to my wife she likes the driving characteristics of the SL55 over the 545i.

Anyway, both cars are very ejoyable and have their own strengths and weaknesses.

btw. the fit/finish on the SL55 has been head and shoulders above the 545i, after 14 months of ownership the SL55 has spent zero time in the shop for anything beyond normal maintenance....I wish I could say that about the BMW.

Regards.

Not to dis your SL or anything, but maybe you should try buying later production year BMW, the last E39 I've had also spent zero time in the shop beside regular maintenance, the german just can't get it right before they start production. But they produce cars that are fun to drive. Just my 2 cent.
