Don't forget, if the driver doesn't know how to use his car, you will win against every car...
But if the guy behind the steering wheel knows how to use the power of his baby, you will lose against every AMG, unless you are driving an Emmy or other competitor.
Don't forget, it's an AMG, not just a MB.

He's in a different league altogether.

MB-AMG=BMW-M series=Dodge-SRT=Cadillac-V series=Ford-SVT, Jaguar-R series, etc.

It's kinda funny, I've only had the car a couple of weeks and the power is more than anything I've owned previous, or even driven for that matter, but I really haven't had the desire to line up and race anybody. Doesn't really seem the point of this car. Power is just one more thing that this car does so well. But maybe it's just me...

545 goes against E500, 545 wins.

M5 goes against E55, M5 wins.

You have to compare apples to apples.

It's like that Jeep commercial where they take a Grand Cherokee with a V8 hemi and race it against a 525xi and an Audi A4 1.8. Of course the V8 Jeep wins. Now race it against a X5 4.4 and see what happens.

Not even teh 4.8 can compete with the E55... those things are strong . I think they have 468hp...but pretty much the 545 and 550 will be in the top when compared to any other V8 without supercharger...

For the audi RS series, what's the difference between an audi S4 and an audi RS4?

Road and Track's? March 2005 Road Test Summary list the E55 AMG 0-60 mph at 4.2 ; 0-100 in 9.4 with 1/4 mile in 12.4 sec.

The E500 0-60 of 5.9; 0-100 in 14.7 and 1/4 mile in 14.4

R&T does not list the 545i times, but lists the 530i auto at 0-60 in 7.2; 0-100 in 19.2 and the 1/4 mile in 15.5.

The 645i listed at 0-60 in 5.3; 0-100 in 12.8 and 1/4 in 13.7. I have seen the 545i listed in another mag at 0-60 in 5.7 seconds but don't remember the other times or the transmission tested.

Don't race him!!

Car & Driver tested 545i at 0-60mph in 5.5 sec, 0-100mph in 13.2 sec and 1/4 mi in 14.1 sec. R&T did not publish a full test of the 545i in its April 2004 issues, but tested the 545i at 0-60mph in 5.3sec and 1/4 mi in 13.8 sec (roughly the same as the 645i, which weights a couple of hundred lbs less). MT tested the 545i at 0-60mph in 5.4 sec, 0-100mph in 13.6 sec and 1/4mi in 13.7 sec. The 545i will clearly outperform the E500 with its tired old 302hp V8.

Motor Trend did a comparison of the M5 against the E55, but did not publish test data for the M5 performance (only its own estimates). MT indicates the E55 tests at 0-60mph in 4.2 sec, 0-100mph in 9.7 sec and 1/4mi in 12.4 sec. Of course, MT gave the nod to the M5 ("...after such a virtuoso performance [of the M5], the E55 struggles").
