My Ride: 545i; Manual Shifter
I guess it's just me, but it's a more natural feeling for me to open/close the windows with switches located on the door. I've also got an e46 and having to move my hand around the shifter to open all four windows doesn't feel right.
I can open all 4 windows very quickly with the e60.

Well I don't need to open all four windows quickly.
But I am indiffer with the switch on the door or the center console, the only reason I think they put the switch in the center is cost saving, as you don't need another set of switch on the passenger door.
But I remeber driving one of those 1980's Oldsmobile they have their switch on the side of the door and some times when you drive you rest your hand on the side and you accidentally opens the windows. :thumbsdown: But I do miss those older cars where there's no electronic safety of any kind where you can brake hard and make a long skid marks
those were the fun days.

Yes, the windows switches, the door lock and the seat adjustment buttons are on the door. One can even adjust the passenger seat from the driver's side.....a useless feature but kind of cool.

It was a joke about their location. Yes they're on the door just like all American cars used to be and are today. One of the reasons the American cars used the power window switches on the doors had to do with the bench seat and lack of center console. And the fact that most early American cars with power windows also had auto transmissions. The German cars put the switches on the center console (as I feel they should be) right next to the shifter so you weren't juggling hands shifting gears and opening windows.
