50/60 mpg is such bs, my nieghbor got a prius last year and hates it now since he gets around 36 mpg, which is still good, but not exactly what they advertised, while his daughter is driving around a mini, getting the exact same mpg, yet better/more fun to drive, and is alot easier on the eyes

HAHAHA Good job for the daughter! thats mighty fine excellent choice! only 36??? might as well get a corolla... $10K cheaper and same MPG.

You know I think this is funny and all and really hate the prius, but how can that be right??? 17MPG for a prius going at a steady speed around a track? Thats gotta be a joke with the way they advertise they get 50-60MPG
I don't think they would make it up. I believe it. The Prius was running at full aggression and purely on its gas engine only. The M3 was be driven at a very conservative rate. The Prius gets 50/60 mpg when it is driven slowly and it runs primarily off its electric motor. Most tests of the Prius by magazines have proven 50/60 mpg is very hard to duplicated in real life.

Yeah and the corolla looks way better.

Jetblack, that makes sense.

Hmmm yeah i saw the show too but honestly as much as that test has alot of truth in it, it has also a flaw: No one drive a prius or a honda civic hybrid at full throttle non stop. In fact probably people that get hybrids are as gentle as possible with the throttle to avoid as much as possible the petrol pump.

If we were to give credit to that test we could probably say the same for a ML 63 AMG chasing a Lexus RX hybrid.

Except for those people that buy them so they can feel good about themselves and look down their noses at other people, but still drive like they want to.

I've seen a whole bunch of hybrids doing 70-80 MPH on the highway and making jackrabbit starts from red lights.

I seriously doubt this is the majority...

The Prius is a lie. In real life driving it's no better on gas than the corolla.
