actually they are rebadged completely. Compare a Japanese Toyota to an American Lexus and its the same material, the Toyotas that we get in the states are watered down and overpriced

for what we pay, we should be getting only what is called a lexus

Holy crap, Praise, are we agreeing on something??

The car might be $400K but based on what I read, Toyota still stands to lose money on this venture much like the Veyron was a losing venture for Bugatti. And despite what all of us thinks, with only 500 models being build, I'm sure there are enough filthy rich people out there that will just have to have this in their collection that I'm sure all if it will be sold. The article in Motor Trend also stated that Toyota will hand select a lot of the buyers for maximum visibility and marketing value. When you think you're the one who chooses who gets the car, it says a lot about the confidence level Toyota has on the LFA.

MB had loads of trouble selling the SLR at its ridiculously high price point. The rich just did not line up for the car as MB expected. I suspect that the same will happen to the LFA.

In any event, you've put your finger on the reason why BMW refuses to build a true supercar -- they are money losers. Good for the corporate halo/brand image but crappy for the bottom line.

How in gods name do u lose money selling a 400k car x500? That's 200 million dollars?!
Not to mention the 600k dollar limited to 50 special editions they'll more than likely put out

Development costs. If you have one off parts made for a low volume car, there are no economies of scale. The costs of the design and marketing are just not spread out over enough units.

This machine alone would set them back multi millions.

Carbon fiber dual-tube rotary loom. Said to be 1 of 2 in existence. This is only used to create one part of the car, the A pillar.

A little insight into the cost of building this car. Exotic car made of very exotic materials.

There was a video of the loom in action, amazing sight. But Toyota made every site take it down, something about proprietary technology.

Dude! Apparently, these days, if you're not raking it in by the billions, you're a cocksucker.

Toyota and Lexus do share parts, I admit that. BUT there's is still a difference as to why someone would pay $10k for a LX570 rather than get a Land Cruiser. Plus Lexus isn't in it for the sports car category... Why do they still make an IS-F and LFA? Just to fulfill the collector's garage and have an expensive Lexus in there along side with their Lambos, Ferrari's, SLRs, etc..

But don't worry, I still agree that BMW is far superior when it comes to sportiness and driving experience. Although more times than not, I still find myself wanting to drive the GX rather than my E60 Lol..
