Hello All,
Im new here and going to order my new 550i M-Pack in a month or so.

Iv'e come across posts on magazine comparisons but you can't really compare it to real life street battles. Just wanted to know if everyone could share their "Kill List" with me. Also, would anyone know how much faster would the 550i be then the 545i? 0-60?

Thanks very much.... This forum is KICK ASS!!!!

I expect the 550i to be about .3 faster in the quarter. A tenth for about each extra 10 HP. It will be interesting to see how things play out in the US mags. BMW's claim for the 545i, as I recall, is 5.6/5.7 to 60, but the steptronics have done 5.2 and 5.5 in the mags. For the 550i, BMW claims 5.5/5.4. So, I am guessing 4.9 to 5.2 in the mags for the 550i steptronic. BMW claims that the SMGs/manuals are faster than the steptronics, but I doubt that. I have always though street and mag results had a high postitive correlation, provided there was no obvious driver error.

Great car! Probably the best kills I had in my 545 were two 'dead even' heats. One with an E46 M3 'vert from 40 - 100 mph, another with a ws2 Trans Am from 0-130 mph. Actually I gained slightly on both, so you might call it a kill.

The 550 will hand the 'vert M3 it's lunch, and should handle the E46 M3 as well, although that will be a drivers race. The ws2 I raced was a weak sample - if it had been one of the stronger engines, or maybe a better driver, I would have gotten walked. But the 550 should handle them as well. Good luck!

How would a 545i with Dinan free flow exhaust and CAI intake fair?

Why doesn't Dinan make headers?

Can anyone make guesstimates?

550i it's really tempting.......................................... ............

Kills? Haven't really had any REAL formidable opponents yet but time will tell.

I only know that a 545i with a Dinan throttle body, a B&B exhaust, BMW style 101s, and PS2s will fair pretty fair. Headers probably are the last thing a 545i needs. Intake, throttle body, exhaust, MAF, and tuning should come before headers IMO (i.e., headers are not the bottleneck in the system IMO). I am waiting on Dinan for at least an intake. What would you like guesstimated? I am a great guesstimator. Any, you might go to Mind Candy. Incidentally, headers probably are impractical on a 545i/550i since so much of the exhaust is one piece.

I thought headers would add significant horsepower???? The only reason why I am not putting it on is because its hard to even find a manufacturer that makes it and also the amount of hours needed for me to install it, and I have to painstakingly pay big bucks to take it out once lease is over....

Headers might add some HP; it would depend on how much of a bottleneck the stock headers are. I am guessing that the headers are the lesser of the evils between suck and phooey. So, they would be the last things I would think about changing. I'd follow Dinan's lead. If Dinan offers headers eventually for the 545i, then adding them might be a cost effective thing to do. If Dinan does not offer them, then I'd forget about them.
