I completely agree - when I posted the calcs I pointed out that they were simplistic and based on just power and weight......but the 550 is starting to get close......

The 550 is certainly starting to get close but the bad news for the 550 will be the new V8 M3 which will probably make the difference a lot bigger. But anyways, the 550 remains an amazing car.

If I remember correctly, there are a few reports of an e46 m3 beating a 550 in this thread

He could be, but thats an incident. M3 is faster, all the way.

After I get my 550 and break it in i'll race my friends M3 conv. to see whos faster. Then i'll race the other M3 coupe at the shop. Win or lose i still think 550/545 is a monster car for it to at least keep up with a M3.

New data added at post number 3. What's the bad news? At the next light, I lined up with the IS 350 and and a 750i--at a perfect 0-60 spot. But, I looked around and what did I see in the turn lane across the street? I don't have to tell you.
