With that logic, a ford just beat are E60 in a comparison test.

Right, and Ford (and Jaguar) score somewhat better than BMW in both actual and predicted reliability...

I have never been a fan of the XJ styling no matter what the ratings are. On the other hand I have been meaning to go see in person and drive their new Supercharged XF...now that's Jaguar thinking outside of their normal design box. You gotta love the styling, 420Hp/413.lbTQ, and base price starting at $62K (ur..unless someone proves to me it's just a rebodied and re-engined Ford Fusion!)

should i buy a ford (jag) that is "somewhat better than BMW in both actual and predicted reliability..." or should i shell out some more money and buy a BMW....hmmmmmmmm tough choice!!!!

brand names will always matter!!!!

In the XJ and the XF, Jaguar now has a couple of cars that are the dynamic equivalent of their BMW peers. Whether the Jaguar, the BMW or a different competitor is the best choice is clearly down to individual preference, but it would be foolish to substantially base your choice of car on brand.

And yes, reliability is important.
