I remember about 15 yrs ago saying about Lexus "But it is a re-Badged toyota" "Who would pay 40K for a toyota" I have had to eat my words!! They make very good cars. So in time Hyundai may be on par with other high level players. Goes to show you that in business if you fall sleep at the wheel there is someone trying to get your share!!!
Good job on the production, quality, performance. However, I would be very concerned about resale value. Although all cars lose value as soon as you drive off the lot, Hyundai has some very bad resale history.

Where in the H did they get .94 corning? I would not trust a Hyundai test, only an independent one.
The latest C&D has a test. 0-60 in 6.0 seconds. A 550i is > 1 second faster. A 750i should do mid 5s. It's not much faster than a base 528i which is at mid 6s. BTW, they mention they could not get the auto to shift anywhere close to the HP peak.
Also, C&D got a mere .83 Gs handling and 170ft 70-0 braking with the Genesis and mentioned a floaty ride and numb stearing. I GUARANTEE my 550i could spank it around a road course such as VIR.

It makes you wonder what kind of tires are on all of these cars. No mention of it on the site, however a good set of tires could make a huge difference in the numbers. Just a thought.
If they are all running stock rubber, then I'm impressed!

I'm taking it with a grain of salt at this time until I see more tests by the car mags.
Like the one poster said C/D's prelim numbers are quite different then what the Genesis comparison test is. Laterl G's shouldn't change much and I think C/D had it at like .84 and Gensis test is saying .90g's or something like that. Also wasn't the 0 to 60 times like close to a half second difference.
We'll see I guess down the road. I'd find it quite hard to believe a first run production of a new car is going to be much of an over all challenge to the major luxury brands. Plus like others said..........Hyundai still doesn't exactly scream nice/good car to 99% of the public and that is a big hurdle to overcome.
P.S.: I'm not to sure I'd compare the Genesis to how Lexus first came out. Lexus marketed its release for close to two years telling everyone how it will set the new standard for luxury and realiablity. Remember "The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection". I also believe Lexus was first concepted about 6 to 7 years before the first car ever rolled out. Lexus wasn't just some two year project and bam there is your car like the Genesis. Plus the Lexus brand wasn't rolling out 12K econo cars for years.

Gee, it looks like crap, faces two cars from two different types and still isn't in the right one, and it's from a Hyundai website.
Is this Genesis really trying to compete with the full-fledge executive sedans? Where's the LS460? Or the MB? And since when have the aforementioned companies dropped V6's into these cars? Not recently at least. I think a 5er would be able to take on the Genesis and they seem to be in the same class. But it still has an awkward shape....like those shoes fat women wear. Yes. It really did remind me of that. Who designed that?

Did you watch the videos and check out the site? V6? That Genesis has a 375 hp V8 in it.
Hyundai raced the Genesis from 0 to 60 against the 750i and Porsche Boxster and the Genesis won
Where's Mercedes?
Did you see the 70 to 0 braking against the Mercedes E550 and BMW 550, the Genesis won thats where Mercedes is.
Did 180 flat cornering which simulates freeway off / on ramps against the Mercedes E550 and BMW 550i, the Genesis won.

If they are selling cars in America can't they come up with a better name than Hyundai. A Ferrarighini name would sell much better.

Oh ya me too... but its interesting to see how they made this big website for the Genesis... BUT... the test drivers ( as indicated on the site ) are from AMCI, I've never heard of them... but it said they are world known reputable independent car testing company... sounds better than C&D
