Against the 550, the 180 firm cornering... against any other BMW? probably 0 to 60 depending on engine size. It beat the 750i
I guess I didn't read through the site as far as I should have..

It is very impressive, but Hyundai has always had a bad rep with me.. my sisters first car was an Elantra, a 97 or 98 if I remember correctly. She had it brand new, and it would stall.. engine malfunction.. oil light amlfunction.. I remember near the end she had to pop a pen in a hole by the stick shift to get it to start

Its a huge step for Hyundai.. but I would never drive one. Theres a reason they didn't put a Hyundai symbol on the front grill!

Wow! I may just have to nix my 550i deal tomorrow and make a Hyundai detour!

But seriously, it's a nice looking car inside and out......kudos to Hyundai.

That's impressive. 0.94G cornering from a full-size sedan which also has the ability to out-accelerate a 750i is an amazing result. Hyundai may not yet have the brand it wants or as much badge cachet as it wants, but neither did Lexus many moons ago. Discount these guys at your peril, my friends. Over time, Hyundai will properly transition into the near luxury category. More quality product like this, and some of the opinions posted here will have to change...

I know there have been couple posts about the Genesis already but I'm going to post it here to get more attention.

http://www.hyundaigenesis.com/#/performance/

So what do you guys think? It can out corner and out break both the merc and the bimmer.

Trade in anyone?
I don't know to me..It's a Hyundai....I would suggest driving both and seeing which you prefer.

See I like how the Tiburon (or however you spell it) looked like when it came out with its new body style but then I decided on an 04 Celica GT-S even though it was slower, I prefer the quality "name" vehicle.

I would choose the 550i maybe cause of the high quality BMW reputation.

Not a bad design, this Genesis is.

But what Hyundai needs to do is revamp their business plans and introduce a luxury brand that doesn't bear the name Hyundai. Just like what Nissan, Toyota, and Honda did with their Infiniti, Lexus, and Acura, respectively.

+1 The name Hyundai resonates horribly. They should have used a separate name to differentiate their new luxury car from the crap they have sold in the past.

usually they specially prepare and tune the car and train drivers to know the characteristics of the hoondai,
whilst giving little driving experience of the beemer and merc in a comparison.

all those bhp and acceleration times of jap cars are always optimistic.
the infiniti did all that stuff 10 years ago, balancing champagne and its still an infiniti
lets see how long that hyundai can sit on an autobahn without breaking down, yes i am biased.

If or when Hyundai finally grasps the meaning and importance of branding, they will really do pretty well. Their designs show that they are trying but just have the wrong mark on the car.... heheheh

Perhaps, but the comparison between Lexus and Hyundai is a stretch. Lexus never began life as a low-end marque. Hyundai, as a brand, is still quite a ways off from Lexus.
