Perhaps, but the comparison between Lexus and Hyundai is a stretch. Lexus never began life as a low-end marque. Hyundai, as a brand, is still quite a ways off from Lexus.
Toyota did. Then they got smart cuz no one wanted a high priced Toyota no matter how luxurious or good --they made a brand called Lexus.
