Had some time to kill yesterday before an appointment and was just 2 blocks from an MB dealer. Decided to test drive the E55. I sort of hated and loved it at the same time.
Hated: the spongy breakes, bad Nav system, no bluetooth, too soft suspension, tires wanted to spin every time I hit the gas (light on dash came on and dsc was activated).
Loved: Massive torque and power, styling, ventilated massage seats, gorgous interior trim -wood, metal, leather, suede headliner.
It felt like an overly powerful Benz, not a real drivers car, but rather a beautiful luxury car with big power. How can these guys be so far behind on the technology with no bluetooth and awful nav?

I had one of the first W211 E55's in the country in '03. It had scary power, but the brakes were absolutely horrible, the steering numb and the handling terrible. The interior and exterior styling were beautiful, and it had every imaginable creature comfort, like drive dynamic seats (side bolsters inflated automatically to keep you in place, plus lumbar massage), ventilated seats, auto open/close trunk, keyless access, panorama roof with solar panels to power automatic parked ventilation system, etc., but I like a drivers car--I sold it after 4 months. I enjoy my 545i so much more than the E55.
