For the record, a friend at work has an A6 3.0 TDI Avant Quattro, I have the 218 bhp 530d. We had a traffic light race a couple of days ago. DSC off, DS engaged, AC off 
We were neck in neck all the way to about 130 km/h like the 2 cars had been welded together.
BTW - The Audi engine sounds just like a petrol when fired up cold. On the 218 530d you really hear the clatter in an underground car park.
