Lexus is just too mushy for an enthusiast.
However, the e500 is a nice car, and you'll look great pulling up to the Bingo hall.

good lord, no...............but thats still one mean piece of equipment. the older i get, the less i care about names. i dont love foreign cars just because. im ordering an SRT-8 dodge magnum (400 HP Hemi) as soon as the dealers start taking orders.
the CTS-V is very complete car fro the pirce, it looks great and drives fantastic. the clutch is nice and light so you can drive it every day and the steering is very responsive. it does have a little wheel hop issue on hard asceleration from what people say.
i actually like the looks of the CTS-V on par with the 545.
with teh amount of issues i have had with my M3 i would very eaily say that any and all car manufaturers have problems.
i am only drivig the 5 series because of SMG and Active Steering, other than taht they can keep it.
my order of pref would be:
545 w/ sport SMG
Dodge Charger SRT 8 (when it comes out)
CTS-V Plus (when it comes)
No Benz and no M45 for me.
Yes, but would you rather drive that than your 545i now?

The e46 M3 will go down in history as the WORST car ever produced by a "so called" luxury car maker. its fast as all hell but thats the end of story.
the interior is on par with that of a subaru and the reliability is nightmareish. what other "luxury" car maker has had engines explode, contant rear diff failures, rod bearing recalls, transmission failures, etc., all in just 1 model car. You expect that from Chrylser but not BMW. i picked up my 2003 M3 6 weeks ago after sitting in the shop for 6 weeks because of a false airbag deployment (burned my arm) and now guess what???? its going right back on the 17th.....Car doestn start (intermittent), noise in front axle, and xenon light failure.....Gimme a break.

Love the car, but if I could do it again, I'd be driving either a M3 or a S4.? Hell, maybe even an e500 or a used e55 if the price was right.
Too many nice cars out there to just stick with one brand.

I belive that the M3 was the problem not the whole line. I had an x5 trouble free for 2 years. Point is ANY and EVERY car manufacturer is gonna have problems. The 745 (02 year) and every year of M3 (E46) have had lots of problems.
My friends A4's engine just froze up. The oil was like gook in the engine. Audi had to replace the entire engine, they actually has 1 in stock....

[/quote]Yep - the dreaded 1st to 4th gate on the tranny. I can't imagine. Necessary to avoid gas guzzling from the 30 year old engine technology.

I love my car but if I could do it all over again I'd get the manual tranny. I drove a 330i ZHP 6-speed last week and got some serious "clutch envy". I'd also consider the Olivin Green next time...just to be different.

when i drove it, i didnt not have to go from 1-4, that is optional and only for the benefit of the driver.
CTS-V has the HP, but what good is it with axle hop? Also, I am told that when you drive the CTS-V non-aggressively, you have to shift from 1st to 4th.
