It's not that hard to create a PayPal account. You should insist that AlexFW create one before sending any money. If this deal falls through, PM me. I might know where you can pick up a 545 front brake system. BTW, it's not mine.

I would never do a wire transfer, too risky.

Why not just do paypal?
I would like to pay him by Paypal, there is no doubt.
I will try to tell him make a Paypal account. Do you know how much time takes Paypal activation?

Haha Joe

I could never do a pick-up from US ....Italy is much closer, I would prefer to go and pick-up Alex's brakes in Italy and make a payment on his hands.

I would stay away from transactions where the seller does not want to give there name - way too risky.
Hmm, that's what I'm doing
I just can't believe what I had to encounter at the day of payment

I know Fred,

but I think it takes some days to give you the 4 digit pin, even by phone call to the card publisher.
It took 15 days for me (2 years before) but I think that is much faster now.

AFAIK you don't need a PIN to open a PayPal account. Just the card number (and your details). One issue is that PayPal restricts the amount of money you can get paid into the account to ~?500 per month (IIRC) unless you have a premium account.

While I can appreciate the desire for anonymity, given that you have had to disclose your name and contact details, I would not deal with someone who is not prepared to do the same.

You can remove this limit by completing 2 of the following 3 things:

1.) Confirm your SSN
2.) Confirm a bank account
3.) Complete your enrollment in the Expanded Use Program

First of all, I wouldn't do any transaction with no name, address etc. Too risky! Even with those provided there is no guarantee they are real.

Opening a Paypal Account varies from country to country. In the US an account can be created within minutes but takes at least 24hrs to be verified. Non verified accounts cannot be used by sellers and have much stricter funds limits. In addition to accept CC payments you need a paypal business account or in other words, Paypal wants 2.5% of the transaction. For Greece, for example paypal takes over 2 weeks to set up the account. This issue is caused by the Greek banking system.

Lastly, I wouldn't do any non-bank protected and reversible transaction such as wire transfers, money orders, personal checks. Even with the best intentions from both sides, there is no protection from misrepresented items. Hypothetically, how a case of warped rotors will be resolved?

This is my 2c dealing with online payments for several years.
