If you ask me, I think besides the standard caveat emptor warning, choosing a "safe" method of payment is also a good idea when buying something from an unknown vendor.
The internet (and the world) is full of scammers and there's not much any of us can do about it but paying with a credit card offers you some protection and a dispute resolution process that usually allows for a chargeback to the vendor until things are resolved. In other words, don't pay with a money order, check, paypal, etc. if you're worried about getting ripped off...

I still have my book from my contracts class. I am sure that I could draft a full liability waiver for the moderators, for free. I could protect you guys from 100% of all liability suits if you incorporate the forum in Sri Lanka, and the plantiffs are from Norway.

No, don't do that! We're here to share and exchange. You asked a very good question that has to be asked, thanks to a couple of bastards. I wish there were methods to protect consumers in cases like these. Unfortunately, the best protections we have lay in our ability to choose proven vendors.
I'm just used to always be on the safe side.Never got scammed before and it pisses me off that my fellow friends ,Who have studied hard and so worked hard to earn this money, got scammed by a low-life scum who didn't even graduate from high-school.
