Thumbs up

Q: Who manufactures BMW Bluetooth copmponents?

I thought that this might help to determine the source of compatibility or incompatibility. If we knew which Bluetooth stack the OEM uses, then we could better determine which phones are likely to be compatible. :'(

I believe the bluetooth module is manufactured by Visteon, part of Ford Motor Co.

Try this link for finding "Qualified" devices: http://qualweb.bluetooth.org/Template2.cfm...t=QualifiedDate

The handset for the BMW needs OPP (Object Push Profile) and OBEX (Object Exchange) OR GAP (General Access Profile) to work.

An easier way is to look at this page which is pretty up to date : http://www.x5world.net/bluetooth_compatible_phones.htm

The component manufacturers are listed at Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) http://www.bluetooth.com

Someone posted this on another board and said that this was the BT module.

You see the Bluetooth logo on the left side of the module decal?

That means that the device is "Qualified" to synch with a phone bearing that same logo.
