got an iphone myself. I put in a passcode such as 11111111 and then was prompted to do the same on the car. or visa versa.. No issues at all.

Your bluetooth passkey for the car is anything you want it to be. It's only used for that pairing so there's no real risk in using something simple like 1234. Any time a device is paired, the passkey can be anythign that both devices "agree" upon.
Some BT devices like headsets (or other ones that don't have a means of entering digits) have a fixed passkey that you must use but since the car has the ability to enter digits, it does not have any fixed code -- you can make it up or use the one from the device that you're trying to pair with the car...

A few of my BT devices came w/ a factory password of 0000 which is then switchable
Generally you only see this on a device with no input controls - say, a headset like a Jawbone. If the device in question has a keypad then it can be anything - as Rudy points out. Make it 16 characters for maximum security.
The only deviation I have seen from this is with the Apple OS X BT stack. Apple generates a pairing code and displays it on the screen, instructing the user to put that in the device being paired.
