My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Hi All,
I was warned by my service rep, but discovered it suddenly: With the BTUM, there is NO privacy of conversation; everything gets played through the speaker system.
Friday, after some minor surgery, I was sitting in line at the local pharmacy to pick up some GOOD drugs (had to show them my drivers license!), and heard the local PBS station winding down their fund drive, a bit short. So, I picked up my Verizon phone, dialed their number, and then pulled forward to the drugstore pickup window, as the station answered.
Suddenly, the station and the pharmacy clerk were all party to my generosity and my "drug deal!" The station guy laughed and said I was multi-tasking; the min-wage clerk thought I was nutz, pledging a hundred bucks to some classical DJ on a cell phonel. Tee hee.
Beware: Ya never know when reality will strike. I do like the system though.
Cheers,
Ray Hull
Does this happen with standard BT (vs upgrade) service?

I don't know what kind of phone you have, but Motorolas that I have seen and used as well as the Treo 650 allow you to switch the call to the handset for privacy.
Check your menus when you are on a call; most modern cell phone menus are context sensitive; i.e. menu items that make sense for the then current state of the phone will appear. The handset toggle menu item may (should) appear on one of your menus when you are on a call.

Umm.. that's the point of bluetooth. To answer calls through the cars speakers/microphone, ie. "hands-free".
I just want all to expect it; will have to try the "privacy" setting on my Verizon e815 as indicated above.

Ahhh.. with the E815 you hit the middle button when the phone is connected to the car via bluetooth. The 2nd item called "Switch Audio" is what you want to get the voice through the phone when bluetooth is connected. I tried that out a couple days ago after reading this myself

If you want some privacy, try using a bluetooth ear-piece that is also paired with the mobile phone; this way, the call can be alternated to either the handset itself, the bluetooth ear-piece or the BMW bluetooth system. Mine works wonders - I am using a Siemens S65 and a Sony B/T ear-peice.

OK, sounds interesting; I have a headset. Now, I'll have to explore where on the phone you select which instrument to be used. Unfortunately, these things are often buried in the menus, and not worth digging for unless you plan in advance of making a call.
Thx,

Transferring a call on the E 815 is real simple.
A) While on a handfree bluetooth call in your car, press the main menu button on your 815
This button is the middle button on the top row of your phone, it has 4 horozonal lines on it.
As soon as you press this button a menu will pop up with like 6 options. Use the "Down Arrow Button"
to scroll down to " Transfer Call" and press Green "Send Button". The call will then transfer from your handsfee to your E815 Cell Phone. NOTE: if you select "Transfer to Handset" the call will transfer however after about 20 seconds the call will automatically transfer back to handsfree in your car, make sure select
" Transfer Call"
C) After you terminate your call everything goes back to normal so that the next call you are on in your car
Will revert back to handsfree
D) If you want to transfer the call to your headset follow same proceedure and simply select
" Transfer to Headset"
You can only find this menu while you are in the car on a call. So check it out next time you are in the car.

VERY COOL Gabman. Many thanks. As I mentioned elsewhere, I know zip about cell phones (and have $30 a month plan to prove it).
