Thanks to all for the welcome on board messages.
I'll order the voice commands option and hopefully will have it installed at the next oil change (still trying to deal with the concept of leaving my baby at the dealer for 2 days
)
Wiu-Bimmer, browellm,
The pro phone (european model) is a true GSM dual-band mobile phone, albeit with 8 watt of output power instead of the regular 2 watt of the small handsets we carry with us.
Matched with a 2 SIM card / one phone number solution that most GSM operators can offer, it's a very convenient solution.
Even though GSM coverage is very good in most of Portugal, I still find the in car phone very usefull in remote, sparselly populated, country side areas. In the microscopic village where I was born, I'm still the only one wich can use a mobile phone, thanks to the in-car phone ability to reach some base station located some 10 Km away on the nearest city.
Not surprisingly it's still a bluetooth device, so if you use it 5 meters away from the car your friends will laugh about the very strange phone you have, not realizing that's the in-car device (guess to whom this happened
)
Cheers.
