but will it work with the BMW Bluetooth? Will the 2004 model year get a retrofit for Bluetooth?
soo, knowing that I could be an old(er) man before those questions would get answered, and since the dealer just called and told me that can't add SAT to the car, I said, well <gulp>
How much would a SPRINT CPT9000 cost to get added? $1200 he says. I fell out of my chair. holy crap. Mr. Belk, you're in ATL, after you tried the install it yourself route, didn't you just end up buying the BMW one?
Is this price what the rest of the USA folks have been paying?
Thanks,
James :'(

I was quoted $1200 from my dealer for the CPT9000 as well. Yikes!
I'm hoping the Bluetooth retrofit works out (and hopefully the Treo 650 will work with it). Wishful thinking, I know.

Does anyone know if the Treo 650 will work with the E60?

The treo 650 was just announced yesterday, so I doubt if anyone in the forums (with Bluetooth) would be 'in the know' just yet. As soon as they are available, I'll have one, but I don't have BT in the car, so....

The specs for the Treo look very promising . Headset & carkit profiles.
Mostly the problem with BMW Bluetooth is the "push" of the address book from the phone to the BMW and then have the iDrive "control" the phone.
Our account manager from PalmOne has one (for himself) and will come by tomorrow (Thursday) and will show me one. I said I would like to have it for half an hour to test the thing in my car. I hope he fulfills his promise (he got a lot of calls for this Treo ......) so I can update you tomorrow.
So finally there may be a smartphone that can replace my old fashioned (but still the best) 6310i as a phone
Bye

The primary reason I waited to order an '05 was because of 1) BT and 2) the imminent arrival of the Treo 650. Now my car is on the boat, and hopefully I'll be able to pick up the 650 not too long later. I guess this is called "Just In Time" deliveries! Just hope Verizon doesn't screw up the profile!

My Ride: 2005 545i SMG. Titanium Grey with Grey interior and Anthracite wood.
I called Cingular to discuss what Bluetooth options I have. I need to have a RIM device, Blackberry. RIM just came out with a new Blackbery phone which is Bluetooth. The kit says something about a car adapter. I am hoping to pick up the phone today and see if it works tonight.
I will follow up when I check it out.

Sorry, Palm Treo Account Manager can't come on Thursday. Too many requests.
We are on Blackberry, so we are not enough a potential buyer.
Regarding former message on Blackberry. I had the 7100v, bluetooth is not good enough for iDrive. You can connect, no controlling of the 7100v from iDrive, no messages for incoming calls, no address book transfer. Only the headset function works, so when you dial from the phone and the connection starts, BMW BT takes over the call.
On the other hand, I read somewhere someone who tested the 7100t and stated that you can manually transfer the address book. I didn't found that option.
The Treo will in future come with a Blackberry client, so that's what I'm looking for.
Bye
