The question of the day today is : what does it happen if you connect a PocketPC to the USB of the LCI E60 or to the USB port of the gateway 500, instead of an HD ?

Did someone try ?

Thanks, bye!

Both the Gateway 500 and the BMW USB port are looking for a USB Mass Storage device. A Pocket PCs USB interface is not a Mass Storage device and requires a host to communicate with it before it exposes its internal structure. So you wont be able to use the music stored on your Pocket PC via the USB port. However you can use your Pocket PC to gain an AUX out and then you can connect that to car. Check my signature for my HTC cradle which does just that.

P.S. you can always stream the music via the Bluetooth adaptor for the Dension Gateway 500.

Mmmhhh ... Expensive in terms of battery. Plus the BT gives me headache when I use another phone to surf the Internet for more than 10 min .

Alex, i've tried this and have been using it on my WM6 O2 Atom Life. the usb port from GW500 works with this phone and plays stored mp3 files like a usb pendrive/hdd. this will only work if the pda phone has an option to switch its usb connectivity mode - RNDIS Sync Mode (usually used for ActiveSync) or mass storage mode (which goes straight to the memory card). So, since i store all my stuff in my 2GB miniSD, it accesses the miniSD and plays the lists of mp3's in it. It also works as my pda charger now...

Hope that answered you...

MMMHHH!!
I have a HTC Touch Cruise, with WM6 too .
Which option should I activate ?
In settings--> Connections I have something "USB to PC" but I don't think it is what I need .
I got an 8 GB SD, that is even too big for the normal use .

Yupp! that's it...In Settings ---> Connections---> USB to PC ---> Mass Storage Mode

When in USB to PC menu, you'll have 3 options : RNDIS/Serial/Mass Storage Mode...Make sure to choose Mass Storage Mode so that everytime it's connected through USB, it'll access your SD card straight away...Since you have an 8 GB memory card on it, it'll be very handy for mp3's...

Alex, just by curiousity, if i'm not mistaken HTC Touch Cruise uses microSD's...are there 8GB microSD's now in the market? i've only seen 4GB's of microSD's in my country...If so, is it produced by SandDisk?

Mmmhhh, I have something different in 'USB to PC' :

USB, Ipod, Gateway 500, etc... HTC!-200804271759_01305.jpg

"If you modify the kind of USB connection in use on the device, it is possible to solve some connection problems with ActiveSync.

[v] Activate advanced network functions"

Maybe is it already set by default .. ?

EDIT : bmw_wpq31 ?

Download and install WM5Torage.
http://wm5torage.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

Then you can use every windows mobile device as an USB stick

Good luck!!
