This is straight from the parts dep at Scotthall. They said this was the correct adaptor also Steven James BMW in Kent confirmed it as well.

Which is the part number you have found?

 

No iPhone 4 adapter yet,
My 3g and 3gs work fine in both my pre and post LCI 5's and you do know that the post lci "y cables have to be change to work with ANY iphone running ios2 +. Apple changed the charge pin and data pins with a firmware upgrade.

The snap adapters may be the same do to the firmware upgrade.

No surprise there then, they can be such a pain at that dealership.

I am surprised that actually refunded you as they point blankly refuse to refund any electrical items ordered from them.

I suppose you had to get it tested by them to prove it as well.....!

Talking from personal experience!

 

I swear they were taking the piss, had my family in the car, 25oC+ and the kids starving! C_CKS! They also wanted to get the car in to do a elec check and then make me wait for the refund whilst they did a warranty claim from BMW HQ!!!

As I bought it the day before I demanded a FULL REFUND and made a slight scene!!

Also been told by a fellow forum buddy that part number: 84 21 2 158 683 works...........be over at Scothall tomoz AM for a confirmation!!

 

My 3GS with os4 works fine in the cradle and charges. Some iPhone car cradles use an induction loop to connect to the external antenna as the iPhone doesn't have hard wired pins for that. I'm not 100% if the BMW one does but my reception seems to get better once it's fitted in the cradle.

 

Does anybody use an ipod touch? My spec.dock isn't working properly after the update to ios4.0. All you iphone guys are running 4.0.1 so I don't think we are really comparing apples to apples. Anybody with a touch on 4.0 and a gateway 500?

 

The 3G and 3GS dimensions are the same and I have used the same 3G adapter with both the 3G and 3GS phones. I have never had a problem pairing an iPhone with the E60 and this goes back to the original iPhone running OS 1.0.1 all the way to the current 3GS and iPhone4 running iOS 4. However, I'm still waiting on a snap in adapter for the iPhone4 since I don't think they make them, yet.

my iphone 3g and 3gs worked fine in my snap in dock even after os4 update, removed snap in adapter now as awaiting iphone 4 version...ps this was brought from steven james ruxley
